Get Your Garden On: The Best Central Ohio Home And Garden Tours
As summer approaches, so does home and garden season.
In recent years, television channels like HGTV and DIY have turned home design, decor, and landscaping into full-blown obsessions for many viewers. If you don’t know about brick pavers and shiplap, you’ve probably been living under a rock.
Columbus has tons of beautiful neighborhoods, and even more beautiful homes. Once a year, neighborhoods like to show off their best and brightest homes and gardens by putting on a tour.
Some tours are self-guided walking tours, while others offer a shuttle from house to house. They vary in dates, price, and even style. But they all share one common factor: They showcase the best homes in our city.
On Sunday, June 10, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., the neighborhood of Old Oaks invites the public to a self-guided tour of some unique and historic homes. Featured on the tour this year is the historic Caroline Brown house which will be opening its doors to the public for the second time in four decades. Tickets are $10 per person.
On June 3, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., the Bexley Women’s Club will host their 10th annual Bexley House and Garden Tour. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day of. The Bexley BEAT bus will be available to shuttle between houses. Photography of any kind is prohibited inside the homes on the tour, as are children’s strollers.
The 8th Annual Westgate Home and Garden Tour will take place on Saturday, June 9 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Westgate is a unique neighborhood in Columbus, offering charming homes for affordable prices. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 the day of the tour. All proceeds from the Home and Garden Tour will benefit the Westgate Scholarship from the Westgate Neighbors Association.
On Sunday, June 24 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., German Village will hold it’s 59th Annual Haus Und Garten tour. One of the most well-known home and garden tours, 5,000 visitors will get a look at these gorgeous historic homes and their modern, updated interiors.
The Merion Village Home and Garden tour will take place on Sunday, July 15, with more info to follow closer to the date. This is the 19th year for the garden tour event, which is free and open to the public! Come over to my neck of the woods and see an enchanting garden or two.
The Annual Worthington Tour of Homes & Gardens is hosted by the Worthington Historical Society and it’s one of my favorite tours in the area. Worthington is straight-up picturesque and the homes range from charming to stunning. Ticket and tour info have not been released yet, but you can stay in the loop by checking the Worthington Historical Society’s website.
Olde Towne East Tour of Historic Homes will feature gorgeous, unique, and beautifully crafted historic houses throughout the neighborhood.. The tour will take place on Sunday, July 15 from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. Please visit their website above for ticket information.
On Sunday, June 3, 2018, Clintonville will host their annual Gardens Tour. Clintonville is one of the most unique neighborhoods in Columbus, with its winding streets and surprising bluffs, it often showcases a wide range of homes.
The Short North Tour of Homes may not take place until September, but it’s one everyone should have on their calendars. This year will be the 44th year of the tour. The two-day affair typically includes a Pre-Tour and Party the night before, and the main event on Sunday. To keep up to date on the Short North Tour, please visit their website.
