Looking for a quiet place to chill out and relax? The perfect yoga experience is waiting for you, 75 feet underground.
Ohio’s only Cave Yoga + Meditation Class is back at Olentangy Caverns. The class, which is described as a “multi-sensory experience” is designed for yogis of all skill levels, including beginners.
Olentangy Caverns were created millions of years ago when an underground river cut its way through solid limestone rock. The caves are full of twisting passageways that open into beautiful chambers. And it’s in one of those gorgeous caverns that you can have this one-of-a-kind Yoga session.
The class is 45 minutes long. You can choose three dates to attend Cave Yoga this year, including June 22, July 20, and additional dates in August and September that have yet to be announced. There will be two sessions per day: one at 7:30 a.m. and one at 8:30 a.m.
The unique setting means that you’ll need to show up to this class with more than just your required yoga mat. In addition, it’s recommended that attendees bring an old beach towel to keep yoga mats clean, a hand towel in case there are a few drips in the cave, and tennis shoes.
The journey into the cavern is a walk down 54 stairs and the temperature inside the cavern is roughly 55 degrees year-round, so be sure to dress appropriately!
Tickets for Cave Yoga are $29.50. For more info about this unique event, head over to olentangycaverns.com/cave-yoga.
