Capital University’s Tree Lighting is the Coziest Way to Kick Off the Holidays

The holiday season is officially underway in Bexley, as Capital University prepares to host its beloved Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony this Wednesday, November 12.

The long-standing campus and community tradition marks the start of the season with festive lights, holiday activities, and a spirit of giving. Beginning at 5 p.m. on the Mound Street Plaza, guests can gather to watch the university’s tree light up the heart of campus before enjoying iceless ice skating, ornament decorating, and photos with Santa from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

For more than two decades, the event has also served as a way for the Capital community to support neighbors in need through a winter wear drive benefiting The Open Shelter. Attendees are encouraged to bring new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, and jeans to donate.

The celebration is open to the public, welcoming students, alumni, faculty, and the wider Bexley community to join in an evening of warmth and connection.
