Can A Coffee Shop Change The World? Bitty & Beau’s Is On A Mission To Prove It Can!

A new flavor of inspiration is coming to town, and it’s about a lot more than just coffee. Bitty & Beau’s Coffee, a place that has been transforming lives while serving up delicious coffee, is setting up shop soon in Upper Arlington. Known across social media as “a human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop,” this chain is much more than your typical café.

Scheduled to open this year in the Kingsdale Shopping Center in Upper Arlington, Bitty & Beau’s is not just about brewing excellent coffee; it’s about brewing change. With almost eight years of impact and growth, founders Amy and Ben Wright have expanded from their original location to 18 shops across 11 states, empowering over 400 employees.

The driving force behind this expansion?

Their dedication to tackling the stark unemployment rate—over 80%—among people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

This mission started back in 2016, inspired by Amy and Ben’s own children, Bitty and Beau, who were born with Down syndrome. Recognizing the need for meaningful employment opportunities for people with IDD, the Wrights launched their first coffee shop. Their goal was simple yet profound: create a space where individuals with IDD could shine professionally and raise awareness about their capabilities.

The UA shop promises to continue this legacy of inclusion and empowerment.

The Columbus location in Kingsdale Shopping Center is set to be a vibrant addition to the community, offering a welcoming space for everyone—whether you’re a coffee enthusiast, advocate for inclusivity, or simply looking for a place to connect with others.
