If you are anything like me, you probably spend too much time watching RuPaul’s Drag Race. Are you looking for the perfect spot to enjoy some fierce queens slaying a stage?
Columbus has a rich drag history and we’ve got some killer queens that are out there stopping the show on a regular basis. Here are the best spots around to catch a drag show.
Axis Nightclub
You can’t talk about drag in Columbus and not talk about Axis Nightclub. Well known for its myriad of themed nights and epic parties, Axis is basically drag heaven. With its large stage and over-the-top productions, it is no wonder legendary queens like Nina West, Brook Lyne Hytes, Yvie Oddly, and more. Boscoe’s
I’m a little biased on this one because Boscoe’s is right down the street from me, but this place is a gem. Its laid-back-yet-trendy atmosphere is perfect for throwing back a cheap drink with friends or, you know, gluing your eyes onto the stage. Union Cafe
Being the Millennial that I am, I obviously love me some brunch. This is why I thank the gods that Union Cafe not only has a killer brunch (um bottomless mimosas anyone?) but, from time to time they have drag brunch. Can you think of a better way to start your day? I can’t. Union Cafe also hosts plenty of drag nights throughout the week so make sure to check out their Facebook for all the details on upcoming events.
Southbend Tavern
A well known Merion Village classic, Southbend Tavern is a bar where everybody knows your name. I’m joking, I think? This friendly and cute little place is located in the heart of the village and is packed full of character and personality. Always a good time, Southbend hosts a variety of drag nights, from open stage shows to weekly variety shows, Southbend has something for everyone. Cavan Irish Pub
There’s no such thing as a bad time at Cavan Irish Pub. I don’t even think it’s possible if I’m being honest. With excellent drink specials and tons of stuff happening during the week, Cavan Irish Pub is a great place to pop in you need your drag fix. O’Connors Club 20
They always say it’s not the size of the space but how you use it that matters. That is definitely the case with O’Connors Club 20. What this little place lacks in size, they make up for it in their fun and lively atmosphere. Hosting a wide range of events throughout the week, O’Connors Club 20 frequently hosts drag nights, which mixed with the intimate venue, offers a truly unique experience. District West
The art of the drag is always a sight to behold, but there’s no place like District West to enjoy a night with the best of the best.
