Activists And Agitators, AKA The Most Inspiring Event In Columbus, Is Back

Activists and Agitators returns on October 27 with an inspiring virtual event.

This year’s Activists and Agitators event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 27, 2021. During the event, participants will be encouraged to build on conversations happening across the community to “redefine the future of housing, education, and community safety.”

Additionally, there will also be discussions about ways that we can all be intentional about self-care as we all work towards building an inclusive Columbus.

Activists and Agitators 2021 will feature speakers, artists, experts, and community organizers to guide participants in a discussion on what a more equitable city would look like.

Speakers at the event include Robin D.G. Kelley, Ph.D., Kimberly Brazwell, Shadena Carter, Kevin Gilmore, Michelle Heritage, Brittany Jackson, Jane D. Leach, Hana Ortiz-Sanchez, Sonya Todd, and Mahonale Waters. Spoken word artists Meaca Moore and Courtney Alexander will also join in the festivities.

In case you’ve never had the pleasure of attending an Activists and Agitators event, let me give you the deets. Activists and Agitators is an annual YWCA Columbus event dedicated to “uniting the Columbus community, inspiring attendees to pursue greater social change together than we can achieve alone.” The event helps to foster dialogue, provide resources, and educate the community about how to promote empowerment and inclusion.

YWCA Columbus created Activists and Agitators with the belief that anyone and everyone can be an agent for social change. The YWCA website for the event reads, “If we all commit to intentional, anti-racist, direct action and harm reduction, our collective impact will be profound.” We couldn’t have said it any better.
