Columbus continues to grow, and August was a busy month for openings.
A century-old furniture icon picked Easton for its first Columbus store, and a candy shop stacked its shelves with bottled soda from around the world at Bridge Park. Over at Polaris, a Columbus-born boutique that started online now has a permanent home. The city’s hometown computer superstore also relaunched its Bethel Road flagship after months of renovation, with a line that wrapped the building before the doors opened.

About:
- The Michigan furniture maker behind the iconic Eames Lounge Chair and the Aeron office chair opened its first Columbus store at Easton in early August. It’s only the 31st store and showroom for a brand whose history goes back to 1905, and whose Aeron chair sits in the Museum of Modern Art’s collection in New York.

- Jennifer Sanger founded this children’s boutique in 2017 after one too many scrolls through endless pink and blue baby clothes, and the gender-neutral brand she built has now graduated from online orders to its first brick-and-mortar storefront, open inside Polaris Fashion Place as of August.

Rocket Fizz Soda Pop & Candy Shop

- The nostalgic candy-and-soda franchise opened its first Dublin location on August 21, right in the middle of Bridge Park. Micro Center (Flagship Relaunch)
About:
- Not a new store, of course, and it never actually closed: the Columbus-founded computer superstore kept its Bethel Road flagship open through months of construction, then threw a grand-reopening celebration on August 22 to show off the results. The renovation added an expanded build-your-own-PC department, a bigger 3D printer section and an updated Knowledge Bar, and the reopening-day line wrapped around the building. The company started in Columbus in 1979 and is still headquartered in Hilliard.

The Wayfair Outlet opens September 4 at 6765 Dublin Center Drive, specializing in discounted open-box, overstock, returned and discontinued items. MINISO Land’s roughly 15,000-square-foot “retail amusement park” at Easton will be one of the first in the country, with immersive areas built around characters like Stitch and the Peanuts gang. Williams Sonoma and Pottery Barn Kids are both comebacks, set to return this fall at the north end of the Easton Station building. RaceTrac’s two debuts, a travel center at 2 Commerce Parkway in West Jefferson and a store at 5811 Gender Road in Canal Winchester, would be the Atlanta chain’s first in Central Ohio. Cottonwood Shanty is moving into a former boutique space at 220 Market St. in New Albany. And Anthropologie plans a roughly 9,000-square-foot store at the Shops on Lane Avenue for late spring 2027, bridal division included.
