This New Sawmill Road Spot Is Serving All-You-Can-Eat Sushi

A new all-you-can-eat sushi spot has officially entered the chat.

Takumi Sushi A.Y.C.E. just opened at 7370 Sawmill Road, right up in northwest Columbus near Dublin, and yes, it is bringing unlimited rolls with it. The restaurant began welcoming customers on Friday and is currently in its soft opening era, which means now is the time to casually “stop by” three times in one week for research purposes.

Takumi moved into the former home of Sunflower Chinese Restaurant, a longtime Sawmill staple (and the first place I ever tried Chinese food back in the 1990s) that closed in January after nearly 40 years in business. Now the space has a fresh vibe and a menu that reads like a greatest hits album for sushi lovers.

Let’s talk about the main event.

Takumi operates on an all-you-can-eat model, which feels like a dangerous amount of power to hand over to the general public. Lunch runs $26.95 on weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and dinner is $45.95, available weekday afternoons through close and all day on weekends and holidays. Kids under 37 inches eat free, and kids between 37 and 60 inches get half off.

On the menu, you’ll find the classics like California rolls and spicy tuna rolls, plus sashimi and nigiri for anyone who prefers their fish in its purest form. There are chef’s special rolls too, including the Samurai Roll, Rainbow Roll, Volcano Roll, and Takumi Roll.

Not in a raw fish mood? You’re still covered.

Takumi also serves hibachi, teriyaki dishes, and noodle options like stir-fry udon. You can start with gyoza or vegetable spring rolls, add some fried teriyaki chicken to the table, and round everything out with mochi ice cream. Wash it down with hot tea or one of those delightfully fizzy Japanese bottled sodas that make you feel like you’re on vacation.

According to the restaurant, the focus is on generous portions and fresh, quality Japanese cuisine in a welcoming setting. There’s even a premium omakase option if you’d rather let the chef take the wheel for a curated experience.

Takumi is open daily starting at 11:30 a.m. Closing time is 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 9 p.m. on Sunday. You can check out the menu and plan your visit by heading over to takumisushicolumbus.com.

Godspeed, Columbus. Pace yourself.
