Zaxby’s Is Bringing Its Southern-Style Chicken To Columbus And Dayton

A new wave of crispy chicken is coming to central Ohio. Zaxby’s, the fast-growing chicken chain known for its Chicken Fingerz, wings, and 12 signature sauces, is planning a major expansion into Columbus and Dayton.

The Georgia-based brand just announced a 10-store development deal with a team led by Charles Terry, a former NBA strength and conditioning coach turned franchise operator. Terry and his business partner already operate 14 Crumbl Cookies locations across the U.S. and Canada, including one that became the brand’s top-performing store worldwide.

Now, he’s turning his focus to Zaxby’s, and he says it’s about more than great chicken.

“What truly drew our team in was more than systems and strategy. It was heart,” Terry said in a press release. “Zaxby’s commitment to community and its ability to bring people together over great food mirrors our own values.”

The new locations will roll out across Dayton and Columbus, with plans for additional growth throughout the region. It’s part of Zaxby’s larger push into the Midwest, following recent deals in Chicago and Indiana.

Founded in 1990, Zaxby’s has grown to nearly 1,000 locations nationwide and built a reputation for big flavors and Southern hospitality. The chain’s menu is built around its hand-breaded chicken, signature sauces, and sides like crinkle fries and Texas toast.

Zaxby’s hasn’t announced exactly when or where the new Ohio restaurants will open, but if you’re a fan of crispy chicken and tangy dipping sauce, you’ll want to keep an eye out.
