One of the best independent bookstores around will soon be closing their doors.
Village Bookshop in Linworth has been open for 60 years but has been owned for the last 36 by Gary Friedlinghaus. The bookshop was known for selling books at discounted prices, will millions of books passing through the shelves over the years.
Due to rising costs, Friedlinghaus has decided to close up shop. Starting June 3, the store will begin discounting books an additional 20-25% and the old church building will go up for sale.
“It’s time for change,” Friedlinghaus told 10TV. “I like to say that I’m making a judicious retreat from a business that has defined my life.”
The Village Bookshop is an icon in the community and its closure will certainly have an impact on customers, some of whom have been shopping there for decades.
The closing sale will run through the end of August. Village Bookshop is located at 2424 W Dublin Granville Rd.
