A 90+ unit development will go before the Downtown Commission next week.
Sitting opposite of the Topiary Park, the new five-story development is a $20 million complex from the Columbus Downtown Development Corp. (CDDC) aims to offer affordable living for Downtown workers.
The development, called Topiary Park Crossing, will house residents who make no more than 60% to 100% (depending on the apartment) of the area’s median income. To put it simply, 60% would be $35,220 for a single-person household and around $50,000 for a family of four.
Located at the corner of E. Town Street and S. Washington, the CDDC bought the .7-acre parcel in February for $1.8 million. If all goes to plan, construction is expected to begin in February 2022 and finish by July 2023. Because the property is located in a historic district, CDDC has to seek approval of the Columbus Historic Resources Commission.
The Downtown Commission will meet on Tuesday, August 24. For more information about upcoming development in Columbus, you can visit the Downtown Commission website here.
