This Iconic Short North Cafe Has Closed. But It Might Not Be Goodbye Forever

Change is an inevitable facet of life, and as the sun sets on a cherished era, Tasi Cafe bids a heartfelt farewell to its loyal patrons.

With a heavy yet hopeful heart, Tasi Cafe announced its closure after 17 years of excellence at 680 N. Pearl St. in Italian Village. The final chapter of this beloved spot was announced on social media, with the poignant note that Friday, August 4, marked the last day of business.

Founded in 2007 by Tasi Rigsby, the cafe’s inception was a testament to a vision that transcended mere dining. It emerged as a casual, brunch-centric haven, destined to become a Short North staple.

Tasi Cafe was more than just a place to indulge in delicious bites; it was a welcoming sanctuary where flavors melded with conversations, creating memories that lingered. The cafe’s impact extended beyond its walls, with an offshoot named Zoe Cafe making its mark in Bexley from 2014 to 2018.

On the closing day, the cafe’s interior radiated with warmth as patrons, old and new, gathered to savor their last moments within its familiar embrace. Laughter and conversations resonated against the backdrop of mostly brick walls, a testament to the connections nurtured within these four walls.

Some ventured out onto the patio, soaking in the ambiance one final time, while others took to social media, sharing cherished snapshots of meals that had become woven into their personal narratives.

In a heartfelt statement shared on Instagram, Tasi Cafe expressed gratitude for the unwavering support and loyalty of the community. “We have loved being a special part of this community. Our Cafe opened our hearts and our doors to you for 17 years. Thank you for being so loyal and supportive,” the statement read.

As Tasi Cafe bids adieu to its beloved patrons and the streets of Italian Village, we take a moment to remember the brunches, laughter, and camaraderie.

While this chapter may have come to a close, the tale of Tasi Cafe seems far from over. The cafe’s farewell note echoed with a hint of anticipation, whispering of a potential return. The post playfully teased, “Thank you very much everyone for coming today and enjoy our last day. We are coming back strong!”

There haven’t been any hints as of yet about in which form the cafe could return, but you can bet that we’ll be keeping an eye on the situation and will update with any news.
