In the heart of downtown Columbus, a new little spot of zen has emerged, and it’s definitely worth your attention.
The sunken garden at the Preston Centre, located at 155 East Broad Street, has recently opened, offering a stunning retreat amid the bustling city. While the garden isn’t open for public access, it invites visitors to pause and take in the serene views from above.
During my recent visit, I was blown away by the elegance of the design.
The garden isn’t exactly secret, but if you didn’t know it was there, you might accidentally walk right past it, and the would be a crime.
With a serene waterfall, a charming small pond, and lush greenery, it feels like a peaceful retreat in the middle of downtown chaos. Even though you can’t venture into the garden, sitting above it allows you to soak in the beauty and tranquility. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, even for just a moment.
It was genuinely such a lovely surprise to come across and I was surprised at how chill it felt, even though I was just steps from Broad Street in the heart of downtown.
And the excitement doesn’t stop with the sunken garden.
Construction is currently underway for ParkWalk, which will connect the PNC Building to the new mixed-use development at the corner of Broad and Young streets. This project, inspired by New York’s High Line Park, aims to transform the existing skybridge into an open-air walkway.
You’ll be able to take strolls along this elevated green space, complete with seating areas, public art, and maybe even food carts! It’s going to be a vibrant addition to downtown, making the area more walkable and community-friendly.
So, whether you’re taking a moment to appreciate the beauty of the sunken garden from above or eagerly awaiting the opening of ParkWalk, downtown Columbus is buzzing with new life. Swing by Preston Centre and check out this beautiful new feature—you won’t want to miss it!
