Sugar, A Mediterranean Eatery, Is Taking Over A Former Park Street Bar

There’s a new restaurant in the works for Park Street, and it’s stepping into a space plenty of Columbus locals will recognize.

Plans have been filed for Sugar, a Mediterranean eatery slated for 504 Park St., the former home of Howl at the Moon. The dueling piano bar closed last year, and now the building is getting a fresh start.

The project is backed by One Hospitality, a group that’s been steadily building a presence along this stretch for years.

Just across the street, Astra Rooftop has already made its debut, and Spice Restaurant and Bar is preparing for its return to its original Park Street location this spring.

Renderings submitted with the permits show a brick exterior with bold “Sugar” signage, paired with a cheerful mural wrapping part of the building that reads “Welcome to Park Street District.” Large garage-style windows and a patio area suggest the space could open up nicely in warmer months, giving it a strong indoor-outdoor feel right along the street.

There’s still plenty we don’t know yet.

Menu details and an opening timeline haven’t been shared, but the addition of Sugar adds to the momentum along Park Street.

The area near North Market has been seeing a wave of investment, from new restaurant concepts to the massive Merchant Tower development rising nearby. As those projects take shape, this stretch of Downtown is starting to feel a little different than it did just a few years ago.
