A New Boho-Chic Rooftop Restaurant Is Coming To Columbus

Big changes are coming to the rooftop of the AC Hotel Downtown.

Lumin Sky Bar & Kitchen is wrapping things up this summer, but its scenic perch overlooking Goodale Park won’t be empty for long. The rooftop will be reborn as Astra Rooftop, a new restaurant and bar with Mediterranean vibes, boho flair, and a modern American menu with European and Spanish influences. It’s expected to open in July.

The new concept comes from One Hospitality Group, the Columbus-based team behind local favorites like Forno, in partnership with Concord Hospitality and Continental Hospitality Group.

“Astra Rooftop is about creating a space that feels like an escape, but remains rooted in the core of what matters: great food, well-made drinks, exceptional service, and next level moments,” said Justin Kintz, executive director at One Hospitality.

Astra’s menu is being created by Branden Weigel, former head chef at Forno, and will center around small plates, shareables, and eye-catching presentations. On the drinks side, Hans Maggard, former general manager of the acclaimed Austin restaurant Suerte, will be leading the charge with a lineup of playful, sensory-forward cocktails.

Lumin first opened in 2021 with Spanish-style tapas and skyline views. With Astra, One Hospitality is aiming for something a little more transportive, right in the heart of the city.

“One Hospitality’s return to Park Street has been part of our plan for several years and we are thrilled to be doing it with such amazing partners,” Kintz said.

Astra is set to open in July, with more details on the menu and grand opening coming soon.
