This Immersive Theatre Show Is A Fantastic Way To Experience Spooky Season

Ready to step into the mesmerizing world of The Sleepwalker of Holstenwall?

This unique and immersive theater production was taken from the iconic 1920 silent film, “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari,” and reimagined it in a way that captivates like never before. This limited-time experience, specially crafted for CCT by Evan Joslyn, invites you to become an active participant in the dark and mysterious town of Holstenwall.

The moment you step behind the curtain, you’re greeted by the breathtaking sets that instantly transport you to another world. The attention to detail is incredible, creating an atmosphere that draws you into the heart of the story. The immersive aspect truly shines here, making you feel like a part of the narrative, not just a spectator.

Now, here’s a fun twist: You’ll be asked to choose a playing card upon arrival, and the color of that card will determine your unique experience. If you’re attending with friends or family and you’re feeling adventurous, I highly recommend picking different color cards. After the show, you can compare your encounters, adding an extra layer of excitement to the experience.

“The Sleepwalker of Holstenwall” isn’t a hair-raising scare-fest, but it definitely has its share of spooky and eerie moments. It’s a show suitable for anyone over the age of 8, making it a great option for families or groups.

Immersive theatre isn’t a common experience here in Columbus. Writer Evan Joslyn wanted to creae something really special.

“I’ve had experiences in college studying abroad and at school where I’ve seen immersive theater and been a part of immersive theater. And I really think that it is the most important type of theatre to get people outside of their homes, away from screens and just into the environment of a story and actually participating,” said Joslyn. “I think now more than ever just, you know, so much virtual reality and AI and all that wacky stuff, just to put people actually into an experience that they can live is to me a very important.”

The cast’s dedication to delivering an immersive performance is clear. They fully commit to their roles, making interaction an integral part of the experience. Don’t worry, though – you’re in control. You can choose the level of involvement that suits you best, and you’ll never feel pressured to participate.

One thing to keep in mind: You’ll be on your feet and walking around for the full hour-long performance, so comfy shoes are a must. It’s a small price to pay for the chance to explore the intricately designed 12,000-square-foot town of Holstenwall, interact with the cast, and create your own unique journey through this captivating world.

In a nutshell, “The Sleepwalker of Holstenwall” is a must-see for those seeking an immersive theater experience that transports you to another time and place. It’s not just a show; it’s an adventure waiting to be explored, and I can’t recommend it enough. So grab your friends, pick your cards, and prepare to be spellbound by this groundbreaking performance.

The Sleepwalker of Holstenwall runs through November 12. Tickets are $21 and you can purchase yours right here.
