This Year’s Holiday Hop Will Be A Pedestrian Only Winter Wonderland

The most wonderful time of the year just got a whole lot merrier with the return of the Holiday Hop, and this year, it’s pulling out all the stops! Get ready to dust off your Holiday Trail and Elf Trail cards, and brace yourself for a stroll through the magical Short North Pole.

The heart of the Short North Arts District is transforming into a pedestrian-only winter wonderland from Russell Street to W. 2nd Avenue. This is not your average holiday market—welcome to the High Street Holiday Market, a festive haven curated in partnership with Matchmakers Market.

There will be dozens of creative and diverse street vendors lining High Street, complementing the over 300 brick-and-mortar Short North businesses, each offering its unique holiday experience.

But that’s not all. Brace yourselves for a sensory overload of holiday joy:

1. Immersive Festivities:

  • Dive into the holiday spirit with immersive festivities, including ice carving by Sculptdecor.
  • Catch a glimpse of Santa making a pit stop and witness the Short North transform into a spectacle of holiday décor.
  • 2. Giving Back:

  • Purchase your holiday tree from Oakland Nurseries, knowing that a share of the proceeds will benefit charity.
  • Exchange the gift of giving with free gift wrapping at The FIG Room, with donations going to Dress for Success.
  • Support the Toys for Tots Drive at Rock City Church in partnership with ABC6.
  • 3. Cultural Delights:

  • Immerse yourself in the world of holiday fashion with “Fashion Is Holiday,” courtesy of the Columbus Fashion Alliance.
  • 4. Sounds of the Season:

  • Let the festivities serenade you with live music throughout the event hours and a heartwarming community sing-along at 7 p.m.
  • 5. Warm Up with Beverages:

  • Sip on complimentary drinks, indulge in an eggnog tasting, and more from a variety of partners.
  • Now, let’s talk logistics. Worried about parking? Fear not! East/West accessibility for vehicles to access parking garages will be provided at strategic locations. And for the eco-conscious, enjoy a $5 discount on Lyft rides, bikes, or scooters to or from the Short North Arts District before 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, using the promo code SN23SLEIGH on the Lyft app.

But that’s not all! Participating businesses have your back with free first-hour garage parking validation from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Joseph, The Lincoln, The Hub, or the garage at Second and High.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, Dec. 2, and cross your fingers for perfect weather. And in case the weather doesn’t play along, don’t fret—the festivities will be rescheduled to Saturday, Dec. 9. For more info, visit shortnorth.org.

Happy hopping, Columbus! We’ll see you there.
