This Year’s Holiday Hop Will Be A Pedestrian Only Winter Wonderland

The Short North Arts District is bringing all the festive vibes this holiday season with exciting new events and cherished traditions. Whether you’re a fan of holiday shopping, twinkling lights, or magical moments under the arches, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this year.

Shop, Sip, and Stroll the Trails

From November 29 to December 31, holiday shopping in the Short North gets an upgrade with not one, but two festive trails! Adults can explore the Short North Holiday Trail, earning stickers for purchases at participating local businesses (did you know 84% of Short North businesses are locally owned?). Kids under 12 can join in the fun with the Elf Trail, searching for hidden “Elf on the Shelf” dolls.

Fill your trail card with three stickers, and you’ll snag a sweet reward, like a peppermint mocha from Winan’s Coffee & Chocolates or a cozy holiday candle from Vella & Co. Trail cards will be mailed to Short North residents or can be picked up at participating shops.

Bigger, Better Holiday Hop

Circle Saturday, December 7, on your calendar—this year’s Holiday Hop promises more magic than ever. High Street will be closed to cars and turned into a pedestrian paradise, featuring over 100 local makers in the High Street Holiday Market, alongside the district’s eclectic mix of shops and galleries.

Get ready for:

  • Visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus
  • Free gift wrapping
  • An ice skating rink
  • A holiday tree lot
  • Live performances from the Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus, Honey & Blue, and more

Need a ride? Use Lyft code SNPOLE24 for $5 off, or enjoy free first-hour parking at participating garages.

Window Displays Worth Voting For

Take a stroll down High Street and soak in the creativity with the annual Short North Business Window Display Contest. Businesses are pulling out all the stops to compete for a $500 prize. Voting happens on Instagram starting December 1, and winners will be announced on December 8.

Make a Difference This Season

The holidays aren’t just about shopping—they’re also about giving back. The Short North Alliance is hosting a Holiday Donation Drive to benefit Southeast Healthcare’s RREACT program. Donations of winter coats, blankets, socks, and other essentials can be dropped off at the Anthem Healthcare Community Welcome Center or Stonewall Columbus through December 31.

Plus, all donations of $50 or more to the Short North Alliance will be matched by Huntington Bank through Giving Tuesday (December 3).
