Listen up, pickleball fans.
Davide E. Kass and his wife Cari are pickleball enthusiasts. That enthusiasm has driven them to do something amazing for all of us. The duo will be opening the first indoor fully dedicated pickleball courts: Pickle & Chill.
The location is currently the home of Tennis Ohio, which will continue operating once Pickle & Chill.
If you’ve somehow missed the growing pickleball obsession going on around here, let me catch you up. Pickleball is a combination of tennis, ping pong, and badminton.
Unlike other racquet-based sports, pickleball is inexpensive, requiring just a variation of a ping-pong paddle and a wiffle ball.
“We have always been a tennis family but in the past few years we have become really excited about pickleball as well,”said David Kass. “For one reason — unlike tennis or many other racquet sports — it’s so easy to jump right in and, inside of an afternoon, you can master the basics and play a fun, competitive game with your friends.”
Pickle & Chill will be opening in two phases. First up, the 25,000-square-foot venue will open six indoor courts. Those courts will eventually be connected to five outdoor courts, aka Phase 2, through garage doors and massive windows.
Once Pickle & Chill is fully open, there will be a full bar and lounge with food options as well. Inside, there will be enough space for 150-200 patrons. Outside, there will be tons of room for everyone to grab a snack or beverage and watch/play some pickleball.
The second phase is expected to be completed in Spring 2023.
“There is currently no place in Columbus – or Ohio – to casually hang out and play pickleball, combined with a fun eating and drinking experience. That’s where Pickle & Chill comes in,” said Kass.
Pickle & Chill is located at 880 W. Henderson Road. The Grand Opening Event will take place on November 13 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. with food, games, and more. You can keep up with Pickle & Chill updates by following them on Facebook.
