Ohio’s Largest Ski Resort Is Back! Mad River Mountain Opens This Week

Snow lovers, you better listen up! Mad River Mountain, Ohio’s largest ski resort, is officially kicking off the 2024/25 winter season on Friday, December 13, at 3 p.m.

Opening Day Fun

Mad River is celebrating the start of the season with a bang. Expect plenty of opening day perks, including:

Freshly groomed snow on seven trails to get you started.

Thanks to upgrades in snowmaking infrastructure, the resort’s Main slope will be open on Day 1 for the first time in years—a testament to Mad River’s ongoing commitment to improving the guest experience.

What’s New for 2024/25?

This season, Mad River Mountain has leveled up with enhanced snowmaking capabilities, ensuring better and more consistent conditions throughout the winter. “We’re thrilled to kick off the season with more snow than ever before,” said Al Fiel, Mad River Mountain’s General Manager.

The bubly Tubing Park, Ohio’s largest, with 1,000+ foot lanes, will also open later in December. Tubing offers a family-friendly, adrenaline-packed way to enjoy the slopes—perfect for those who prefer sliding over skiing.

First Tracks: Pass holders get early access to freshly groomed snow on select days.
