One of Ohio’s most recognizable buildings is officially looking for a new owner.
The former Longaberger headquarters in Newark has hit the market with an asking price of $8.5 million.
The seven-story office building was constructed in 1997 to resemble Longaberger’s iconic Medium Market Basket, transforming what could have been an ordinary corporate headquarters into one of the most unusual office buildings in America. Nearly three decades later, it’s still one of the most recognizable landmarks in Ohio.
According to the listing, the property includes 180,000 square feet of office space situated on a 21.5-acre campus at 1500 E. Main St. in Newark.
Inside, the building features a media room, fitness center, glass elevators overlooking the central atrium, and custom woodwork sourced from local materials. The building was designed to accommodate more than 500 employees and includes 555 parking spaces, including 25 heated underground executive parking spots.
For years, the basket-shaped headquarters served as the home of the Longaberger Company, the Ohio-based basket maker that became a household name through its direct-sales business model. At its peak, the company employed thousands of Ohioans and generated more than $1 billion in annual sales.
After Longaberger vacated the building in 2016 amid the company’s financial struggles, the future of the property became a topic of fascination across Ohio. Subsequent owners invested millions into renovations and explored a variety of redevelopment possibilities, while the building continued to attract visitors curious to see one of the state’s quirkiest architectural landmarks.

Now, the property is once again searching for its next chapter.
Newark and neighboring Licking County have seen increased attention from developers and investors in recent years thanks to rapid growth across Central Ohio and Intel’s massive semiconductor project nearby.
Whether the giant basket ultimately becomes office space, a mixed-use destination, a corporate headquarters, or something entirely different remains to be seen.
