Light Up Your Life At The Columbus Water Lantern Festival

I’m a sucker for a good photo op.

That’s why I’m incredibly jazzed about the upcoming Columbus Water Lantern Festival. On Saturday, September 8, visitors of all ages are invited to participate in this unique experience.

At the festival, attendees will be given a lantern to decorate, which will be launched into the water with the others to create a stunning visual experience.

The lantern launch window typically begins at sunset and will continue for 1-2 hours until everyone has had an opportunity to launch their lantern into the water.

The event will kick off at 5 p.m., with food trucks, music, and fun. Around 7, guests will be able to begin decorating their lanterns, which are made from wood and rice paper. The lanterns will launch between 7:30-8:30 and they’ll remain out on the water until 9:30.

After that, the crew will make sure the river is all cleaned up. In fact, the eco-friendly event cleans up more than just the lanterns.

“We are committed to leaving each community cleaner than when we arrived. We go to great lengths to ensure a cleaner, more beautiful environment.

Our team cleans up all the lanterns following the event. In addition we also pick up any existing trash that may have previously been in or around the water. Lastly, the lanterns are made from rice paper and wood so they are eco-friendly.”

Tickets prices are $40 day of the event, with discounts available for early purchase. The Water Lantern Festival is open to all ages, a perfect event for the whole family. The festival will be held at The Promenade along the Scioto Mile, 233 S Civic Center Dr. For more information about the festival, please click here.
