You know that we’re big fans of the great outdoors here at Columbus Navigator.
So you can imagine the excitement buzzing around these parts about the 2022 Winter Hike Challenge. Ohio is a gorgeous place to explore, and that’s especially true in the winter.
From the frozen shores of Lake Erie to the icy waterfalls at Old Man’s Cave, there’s a lot of beauty to take in over the next couple of months.
If you want to get in on the 2022 Winter Hike Challenge, step one will be downloading the DETOUR Ohio Trails App, available at detour.ohiodnr.gov. Then, you’ll need to participate in hikes at state parks in three different regions of Ohio between now and March 1, 2022.
There are guided hikes or you can head out on your own, but the key is really visiting three different areas. There are hikes for all skill levels, including the little kiddos, who can visit the Storybook Trails if you are hiking as a family.
Once you’ve completed the challenge, you can submit your information here. The first 500 adventurers to complete the challenge will receive a free limited edition Ohio State Parks Winter Hiker sticker.
If you’re ready to get started, we’ve got a few winter hike suggestions right here.
