The Best Things To Do This Summer At The Columbus Commons

As summer rolls into season, the John F. Wolfe Columbus Commons is the place to be for community events, family fun, and cultural festivities in downtown Columbus. This year, the park is packed with a variety of activities suited for everyone, from food lovers to fitness buffs and music aficionados.

Food and Fun

Daily activities at the Commons are now more exciting with permanent food options available. Visitors can enjoy carousel rides from 11am to 8pm daily, and indulge in local favorites at Tortilla Street Food and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. A rotating selection of food trucks will also be available throughout the season, offering a wide range of culinary delights.

Family Days

On Fridays from June 7 to August 9, the park transforms into a haven for children with inflatables, face painting, and crafts available from 10am to 1pm. These activities offer a fun and engaging way for families to spend quality time together while enjoying the outdoors.

Movie Nights

Families and movie enthusiasts can look forward to free kids movie nights on select dates throughout the summer. Scheduled for May 25, June 21, July 12, and September 7, these events are perfect for enjoying classic films under the stars.

Rock Out

Music lovers have something to mark on their calendars as well. On August 30, tribute bands will take the stage to perform hits from Led Zeppelin and Grateful Dead, promising an evening filled with nostalgic rock tunes.

Classical Beats

The Picnic with the Pops series is another highlight, featuring eight concerts from June 15 to July 27. A special performance by the Violent Femmes with the Columbus Symphony on June 22 is expected to be a standout event, merging rock vibes with classical undertones.

The Columbus Commons offers not just events but a picturesque setting ideal for relaxing and enjoying the heart of downtown Columbus. With convenient parking available at the Columbus Commons Main Garage or the Underground Garage, planning a visit is easy for anyone looking to enjoy the park’s summer offerings.
