Dough Mama In German Village Is Closing

After 7 months, Dough Mama in German Village is closing up shop.

The bakery, located at 730 S. High Street, opened back in September 2020. Owner and operator Perrie Wilkof shared the news on Dough Mama’s social media, announcing the final weekend at Dough Mama.

“After much consideration, we have decided to close our doors in German Village after this weekend. Our time down south has been absolutely incredible, you welcomed us with so much warmth and excitement, and we will be forever grateful for the experience,” said Wilkof in a social media post.

Wilkof went on to explain that the closure of the bakery wasn’t due to financial reasons or for a lack of business, but rather for personal reasons. She, like so many other small business owners, was feeling burnt out.

“This fall I will be attending Ohio State for a Masters in Social Work, and looking into the future, I have to recognize my limits and know running two locations will not be possible. I had to see if we could make it work, to go for the dream, but what I ended up finding out is dreams change,” said Wilkof. “If this year has taught us anything, it’s to appreciate life, live it to its fullest, and there’s no time to waste.”

The Clintonville location of Dough Mama will remain open, returning to dine-in service on May 8th. After this weekend, the German Village location will close for good. You can snag one last treat by visiting the store Saturday & Sunday (May 1-2) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
