There’s no better way in Ohio to enjoy the fall foliage than taking a ride on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.
The railroad offers a variety of trains throughout the year, including the incredibly popular North Pole Adventure, but their Fall Flyer is one of a kind. Traveling through Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the train takes riders through stunning vistas of fall colors.
The train ride lasts about two hours. Trains depart on Saturdays at 9:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. from the Rockside Station in Independence and on Sundays at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. from the Akron Northside Station. Tickets for the train are $20-$30, depending on the seating class you choose.
Speaking of tickets, if you are in the mood for a truly exceptional experience, pay the extra $10 and book a seat in the upper dome observation cars. The views are stunning and the domed car lets you take in the sites in all directions.
In the area surrounding the national park, you’ll find tons of fun restaurants, bars, and unique accommodations. Masks are required for all passengers during train rides. You can read more about the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad COVID-19 policies right here.
Tickets for the train rides at CSV Railroad tend to sell out quickly, so if you’re interested in booking a ride on the Fall Flyer, you can visit their website here.
Cuyahoga Valley National Park is located just a short distance from Cleveland and Akron, but you’ll feel worlds away. The park is beautiful, full of hiking trails, activities, waterfalls, and gorgeous rock formations. To learn all about Ohio’s only National Park, you can visit nps.gov/cuva.
