Bad news if you planned to stroll through Alley Islands this weekend, Columbus.
Organizers of Alley Islands announced that the 2026 festival has been postponed because of expected bad weather this weekend. The event will now take place on Saturday, August 22.
“After much consideration, the decision has been made to POSTPONE Alley Islands to a later date…” organizers shared on social media. “It’s a bummer but a soggy festival would be an even bigger bummer. Thank you for your understanding and we hope to see you in August!”
The annual street festival transforms the Discovery District into a full-day celebration of murals, music, food, and local creativity.
Running from noon to 10 p.m., Alley Islands features four stages and more than 20 performers spanning live music, dance, comedy, storytelling, and street performances. Visitors can also explore local vendors, food trucks, breweries, galleries, artist studios, and creative workspaces throughout the neighborhood.
The festival is organized by Blockfort Gallery and Studios.
Over the years, Alley Islands has grown from a small mural-focused gathering into one of Columbus’ most unique arts festivals.
At the center of that growth is the Lafayette Mural Alley Project, an ongoing initiative to fill Lafayette Alley with large-scale public art between Grant Avenue and North Fourth Street.
The project, managed by Blockfort alongside local building owners, plans to create more than 40 permanent murals featuring artists from Columbus and cities across the country.

Blockfort itself has become a major creative hub in Columbus since opening in 2016. The former auto parts building now houses more than 25 artists and entrepreneurs working across painting, sculpture, design, performance, fashion, and community organizing.
When Alley Islands returns in August, attendees can expect a full day packed with visual art, performances, local food, and hopefully, beautiful weather. For more info, head over to alleyislands.com.
