Dutch Bros Brewing Up First Central Ohio Location

Central Ohio coffee lovers will soon have a new option in the drive-thru lane.

Dutch Bros Coffee, one of the nation’s fastest-growing beverage chains, has announced plans to open its first Central Ohio location later this year, bringing its signature coffee drinks, energy beverages and upbeat customer service style to the Columbus area.

The new location is scheduled to open towards the end of 2026 at 5344 W. Broad St. in Prairie Township. The site will occupy a previously undeveloped property and will operate with a drive-thru and walk-up window rather than traditional indoor seating.

While Dutch Bros has rapidly expanded across the country in recent years, its Ohio footprint remains relatively small.

The company currently operates five locations in the state, with stores concentrated in the Cincinnati and Dayton regions. The Prairie Township shop will mark the brand’s first entry into the Central Ohio market.

Company officials say customers can expect a high-energy experience centered around speed and convenience.

“A typical visit will feature upbeat music, energetic baristas and outstanding speed, quality and service,” Dutch Bros said in a statement announcing the project.

The Oregon-based chain has built a loyal following through its extensive beverage menu, which goes beyond traditional coffee offerings. Popular drinks include the Golden Eagle, a caramel and vanilla breve topped with caramel drizzle, along with cold brews, freezes, teas, lemonades, smoothies and specialty energy drinks.

Public records indicate Dutch Bros may be planning a broader Central Ohio expansion.

Permit filings show the company is also pursuing locations at 6175 Sawmill Road near Dublin and 5470 N. Hamilton Road near New Albany, although opening timelines for those projects have not been announced.

Founded in 1992 by brothers Dane and Travis Boersma in Oregon, Dutch Bros began as a small coffee cart operation before growing into a national brand. As of March 2026, the company reported operating 1,177 locations across 25 states.

The arrival of Dutch Bros adds another national player to Central Ohio’s increasingly competitive coffee market, joining established chains and a thriving local coffee scene. Whether customers are drawn by specialty espresso drinks, flavored energy beverages or the brand’s distinctive drive-thru culture, the opening signals that one of America’s fastest-growing coffee companies sees Central Ohio as a key part of its future growth.
