A popular Southern breakfast chain is officially making its Ohio debut in Columbus.
Biscuit Belly is opening its first Ohio location at 1417 W. Fifth Ave. in Grandview Heights, taking over the former Hot Chicken Takeover space.
Founded in Louisville in 2019 by husband-and-wife team Chad and Lauren Coulter, Biscuit Belly has quickly expanded across the South and Midwest with a menu centered around scratch-made biscuits and Southern-inspired brunch dishes.
The restaurant offers a broad brunch menu that includes biscuit sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, fried chicken, pancakes, French toast, omelets, breakfast tacos, avocado toast, burgers, salads, coffee drinks, and brunch cocktails.
At the center of it all are the restaurant’s signature biscuits, which were developed alongside executive chef Tavis Rockwell after months of recipe testing.
According to the company’s website, the Grandview location has been a long time coming.
“Grandview Heights is one of Columbus’s most walkable, most beloved neighborhoods, and honestly, it was only a matter of time before we found each other,” the restaurant says on its coming soon page. “Our West 5th Avenue location is coming soon, bringing scratch-made biscuits and Southern brunch vibes to our first location in Columbus Ohio.”
The new restaurant is expected to open June 2, according to recent reports. Biscuit Belly says the space will feature a bright, community-focused atmosphere, along with opening day giveaways for guests.
Drivers along West Fifth Avenue may have already noticed the fresh paint and new signage as the former Hot Chicken Takeover space undergoes its transformation.
The Columbus opening marks another major expansion step for the growing brunch chain, which currently operates 13 locations across six states.
