Sauder Village Hosts First-Ever Storyteller Conference for Writers & Book Lovers

Calling all storytellers, bookworms, and aspiring novelists—Sauder Village is bringing something new to the table this spring. The inaugural Sauder Village Storyteller Conference is happening on Saturday, April 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Inn, and it’s shaping up to be a must-attend event for Ohio writers.

Whether you’re knee-deep in your first manuscript or just love the idea of hanging out with fellow book lovers, this one-day conference is packed with workshops, networking opportunities, and yes—some serious book shopping.

“The Storyteller Conference provides a place for writers to sharpen their skills and network with other authors in the region,” said Autumn Owens, Sauder Village Event Planner. “Our hope is that attendees walk away feeling both rejuvenated and confident in what lies ahead for them in their writing journey.”

The lineup features four local authors leading workshops on everything from overcoming writer’s block to fine-tuning your work:

  • 📖 Beth Ann Baus – Contributing writer for Crosswalk.com and author of Sister Sunday, My So Much More, and His Power, Our Weakness.
  • 📖 Dawn Hauter – Published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Get Out of Your Comfort Zone.
  • 📖 Kate Michaelson – Author of the novel Hidden Rooms.
  • 📖 Kimberly Wyse – Memoirist behind Looking Up When Life Looks Down.

Need a break between sessions? Grab a cozy spot by the Heritage Inn fireplace, sip a writing-themed drink from Doughbox Bakery, or browse books from two Ohio indie bookstores—Finch & Fern (Sylvania) and Gathering Volumes (Perrysburg). Even if you’re not attending the conference, you can stop by and shop the book vendors for free.
