If you’re looking for a unique experience that the whole family can enjoy, it’s time to head to Lynd Fruit Farm.
U-pick farms have been a fun, late summer activity for generations. It all started back in the early 20th century when farms opened their gates to families, couples, and apple enthusiasts alike, offering a hands-on experience with nature’s best. Lynd Fruit Farm is no exception—they’ve taken the concept of farm fun to a whole new level.
One of the biggest attractions at Lynd Fruit Farm is their famous apple shooting range. But this isn’t your typical apple-picking experience. Instead of plucking apples off the tree, you get to launch them out of a cannon! Yup, you read that right. Imagine lining up crisp, juicy apples in a cannon and firing them at targets downrange. It’s a blast—literally!

In addition to the cannon, they’ve also got a set of giant chimes that ring out different melodies when hit by a flying apple. It’s an activity that’s sure to entertain the whole family. And if you’ve ever wondered just how far an apple can soar when shot from a cannon, now’s your chance to find out. Spoiler alert: It’s farther and with more force than you’d think!
The apple cannons are open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., starting August 16 and running through the u-pick apple season—weather permitting, of course. You can buy apples in sets of 3, 10, or 20+, so everyone in the family can have a turn.
This weekend also marks the start of the S’miles of Sunflowers Festival at the farm. After you’ve had your fill of apple cannon fun, you can stroll through the stunning sunflower fields. Admission to the festival is $10, which includes a free wagon ride to the apple cannons and the kids’ zone at the maze. The sunflower festival runs August 16-18 and August 23-25, 2024. You can learn more about the festival right here.

You can visit Lynd Fruit Farm at 9851 Morse Rd. SW in Pataskala. In addition to the Apple Cannon, they’ve also got corn mazes, u-pick apples, a market, seasonal events like S’miles of Sunflowers, and so much more.
