This Longtime Short North T-Shirt Shop Closed Over The Weekend

One of the Short North’s longtime staples has closed its doors.

HOMAGE has officially shuttered its Short North location, marking the end of a nearly two-decade run on/near North High Street. A sign posted on the door over the weekend confirmed the closure at the storefront, located in the heart of the Short North Arts District.

“This is where it all began,” the message read. “A lot has happened since these doors first opened and we would not be here without you.”

A Columbus brand that grew well beyond Columbus

Founded in 2007 by Ryan Vesler, HOMAGE built its reputation on soft, vintage-inspired apparel celebrating sports teams, music, and pop culture moments.

For many Columbus shoppers, the Short North shop was their first introduction to the brand. It’s where people popped in before dinner, grabbed last-minute gifts, or walked out with a t-shirt they’d end up wearing on repeat. The vintage-inspired apparel shop relocated from its original home at 17 Brickel St. to its spot at 783 N. High St. back in 2014, seeking better visibility.

While the Short North storefront has closed, HOMAGE is still operating elsewhere in the city. Its Easton location remains open, and the company continues to sell online and in other markets.

Another shift for the Short North

The neighborhood has seen a steady wave of changes in recent years, with several longtime businesses leaving the district. Rising costs and evolving retail trends have made it harder for even well-known local brands to maintain a physical presence there. For HOMAGE, the Short North store was more than just another location. It was the neighborhood where it all started.
