If you’ve ever wandered along the riverside in Dublin during the holidays and thought it could use more twinkle lights, mulled wine, and hand-carved nutcrackers, city officials might just be reading your mind.
The City of Dublin has officially approved a European-style holiday market, Christkindlmarkt Dublin, expected to debut in 2026.
The idea first took shape in 2022.
“With the expertise of Christkindlmarkt Consulting, we’re excited to introduce a festive and authentic holiday experience that reflects Dublin’s innovative and engaged spirit,” City Manager Megan O’Callaghan said. “Not only will this market offer an economic boost, but it will strengthen community pride and create memories for residents and visitors alike.”
Christkindlmarkt Consulting LLC, led by Maria Adele Rosenfeld, CEO and former head of Carmel Christkindlmarkt, was selected to run the event.
“We are beyond excited to bring Christkindlmarkt Dublin, Ohio to life here in the city of Dublin,” Rosenfeld said. “Dublin’s recognition as a World Festival & Event City makes it a natural fit for this event. Its residents consistently rally behind meaningful community traditions, and I look forward to welcoming everyone to Christkindlmarkt Dublin, Ohio.”
Here’s what’s planned so far.
The market will take place at Riverside Crossing Park, centered around the pavilion and ice rink, from the Saturday before Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve. Tentative hours are Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. The initial plan calls for 40 to 50 chalets with food, drinks, and gifts, with hopes to expand to more than 100 in future years.
City officials are clear this is meant to be more than a pop-up craft fair. “This market could become one of Dublin’s signature events,” O’Callaghan said, citing its potential to boost wintertime foot traffic and tourism. A third-party operator will handle vendor coordination and booth rentals, with planning already underway for 2026.
With booths, lights, and holiday cheer on the horizon, we can start looking forward to a truly festive reason to bundle up and wander in Dublin next winter.
