The Zoo Bus is officially back for the season, giving Central Ohio families an easy and affordable way to get to both the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and Zoombezi Bay without the hassle of driving.
Beginning Saturday, May 23, COTA’s seasonal Zoo Bus service will run daily through Labor Day, connecting downtown Columbus directly to one of the city’s most popular summer destinations. After Labor Day, service will continue Fridays through Sundays until October 31.
And the biggest draw might not even be the convenience.
Riders can score heavily discounted admission, including entry to the Columbus Zoo for just $5 or $10 off admission to Zoombezi Bay. For families looking to stretch their summer budget, the savings add up quickly.
The bus operates five trips daily, with the first departure leaving downtown at State and High Streets at 8 a.m. The final ride leaves the Zoo at 6:15 p.m., returning passengers downtown around 7 p.m.
Guests can board at three locations:
- Statehouse downtown at State and High Streets
- Griggs Dam Park & Ride
- Dublin Park & Ride
Fares remain inexpensive:
- Adults: $2 each way
- Children under 12: $1 each way
- Children under 5: Free
To receive the discounted Zoo or Zoombezi Bay admission, riders need to ask their COTA operator for a Zoo Bus coupon before arriving. Coupons are distributed one per rider and must be presented at the admission window.
The return of the Zoo Bus comes as both the Columbus Zoo and Zoombezi Bay gear up for another packed summer season.
The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is home to more than 600 animal species and remains one of the region’s biggest family attractions. Next door, Zoombezi Bay offers 19 water attractions, including wave pools, lazy rivers, slides, and interactive play areas.
For families trying to plan affordable summer adventures, the Zoo Bus may end up being one of the best deals in the city.
