Columbus ArborFest Is Here to Make Your Tree-Hugging Dreams Come True

Get ready to celebrate all things green and growing at the inaugural Columbus ArborFest!

Whether you’re a tree enthusiast, a nature lover, or just looking for a fun family outing, this festival has something for everyone. Held in the scenic Whetstone Park, ArborFest is the perfect way to spend a day outdoors while learning about our local ecosystems, enjoying live entertainment, and connecting with organizations dedicated to sustainability.

Explore and Learn

Columbus ArborFest is all about connecting with nature, and there’s no better way to do that than with the guided walks around the park. You can explore nearby waterways, forests, and the beautiful Park of Roses gardens. For those with a curious mind, the Whetstone Prairie offers a unique glimpse into a restored natural habitat. If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about the trees in your own backyard, Columbus City Arborists will be on hand to give you an up-close-and-personal look at our local greenery.

For the little ones, the Davey Tree Seedling Center has a dedicated children’s area where they can get hands-on with nature. From arts and crafts to a sing-along, there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained while they learn about the environment.

Shop and Grow

If you’re looking to spruce up your lawn or garden, don’t miss the native plant sale. Local nurseries will be offering a variety of plants that are perfect for Ohio’s climate, helping you create a beautiful and sustainable landscape. Plus, you can pick up a free sapling at the Davey Tree Seedling Center, courtesy of The Davey Expert Tree Company. It’s a great way to add a new tree to your yard and help the environment at the same time.

Relax and Enjoy

ArborFest isn’t just about learning—it’s also about having fun! Relax with some free wellness classes at the Yoga Field, or take in the sights and sounds of live music from local band Six Feet Apart. If you’re a fan of poetry, be sure to catch the “poe-tree” readings from EcoPoetry of Columbus, where nature and verse come together in a beautiful way. And for something a little different, check out the modern dance performances by CoMo Dance.

Connect with the Community

The festival is also a great opportunity to meet with organizations that are working hard to support our local ecosystems. Booths from groups like Franklin Park Conservatory, OSU Master Gardeners, Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed, and many more will be set up throughout the event. Whether you’re interested in gardening, conservation, or sustainable living, you’ll find plenty of information and resources to help you get involved.

Food and Fun

No festival is complete without some delicious food, and ArborFest has you covered. Local food trucks like Hisham’s, Dos Hermanos, Tabouli Cafe, and Kona Ice will be serving up tasty dishes to keep you fueled throughout the day. And if you’re a fan of big vehicles, don’t miss the chance to climb inside the OSU BUGmobile, forestry vehicles, and the Ohio 811 Interactive Educational Trailer. For those interested in green transportation, Drive Electric Columbus will be hosting an electric vehicle show.

Getting There

ArborFest is easily accessible by foot, bike, bus, or car. The festival is located just off the Olentangy Trail, making it a perfect destination for cyclists. A free bike corral will be available for those who ride. If you’re taking public transportation, COTA lines #2 and #102 run regularly along High Street, and a shuttle will take you from the library parking lot to the event.

For those driving, limited parking is available at Whetstone Park, with additional parking at the Whetstone Library and Community Center. Several local organizations have also generously opened their parking lots to festival-goers, so you’ll have plenty of options.

Whetstone Park is located at 3923 N High St, Columbus, OH 43214. To learn more about Columbus Arborfest, you can click here.
