Say Hello To Black Sheep, The Short North’s Newest Hangout Is Coming Soon

The Short North’s nightlife is getting a new neighbor, and this one’s got some serious personality.

Black Sheep Kitchen & Spirits is moving into the former Bristol Republic space, and while it may be the new kid on the block, it’s coming in loud, proud, and ready to shake things up. Spearheaded by Misty Linn, the visionary behind District West, and backed by members of the West family, Black Sheep is here to offer something a little unexpected: a chef-driven tavern experience that’s equally about killer food, crafted cocktails, and vibrant, community-rooted energy.

Described as “familiar but special,” the concept blends high-quality eats with a full calendar of actually fun entertainment.

We’re talking DJs, drag shows, surprise performances, and maybe a few moments you’ll have to see to believe. The vibes will be immaculate seven days a week, with happy hour, dinner service, weekend brunch, and programming that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

But make no mistake — this place has heart.

Black Sheep is LGBTQIA+-owned and operated, unapologetically inclusive, and designed to be a space where individuality is not just welcomed but celebrated.

“It’s a place where individuality is celebrated and everyone feels at home,” said Linn. “And where you never know what kind of unforgettable experience you’ll walk into.”

If you’re wondering what happened to Bristol Republic, don’t worry. They’re relocating to Bridge Park in Dublin and are set to reopen later this year. In the meantime, the Bristol team is still on board behind the scenes at Black Sheep, helping ensure the same high standards in food and drinks you’ve come to expect.

With the creative firepower of Misty Linn, the West family’s flair, and the operational know-how of folks behind Bodega, Apartment B, and Worthington Tavern, we’re expecting this to be one of the Short North’s hottest new hangouts. There’s no official opening date quite yet, but you can follow along for updates over on Instagram.
