Cozy. Romantic. Delightful.
Those are the first three words that come to mind when you first step foot in Alqueria Farmhouse Kitchen. The restaurant, which opened in late January, is located at 247 King Ave. Alqueria has an intimate feel to it. It has rustic elements, but overall, it feels incredibly chic. The menu is wide-ranging, from charcuterie to Brussels sprouts starters to entrees like the Crispy Braised Pork Shank.
This is the first restaurant from co-owners Patrick Marker and Jacob Hough, who worked for years as chefs at Barcelona. Alqueria, which is Spanish for farmhouse, definitely has some Spanish influence. You can see it mostly on their incredible wine list, but also in some food options, like the Charred Octopus & Migas.
The highlight of my visit was the cocktail menu. I ordered a Farmhouse Pony, which is a mule style drink made with Dewar’s scotch, Canton ginger, fresh lime juice, and cava. It was pure heaven and absolutely worth every penny.
Alqueria is the kind of place where you can take a date you’re looking to impress or get the girls together for a night out. The food seems effortless and the service is outstanding.
Lunch hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and dinner hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; the restaurant is closed Sundays.
