Heads up, Columbus drivers. Your late-night commute is about to get a little more complicated.
If you drive anywhere near downtown, you might want to plan ahead this week. The Ohio Department of Transportation is rolling out a series of overnight ramp closures as part of ongoing construction work.
Crews are in the middle of a pretty major project that includes widening roads, replacing bridges, and rebuilding ramps. Translation: things are going to be a little messy for a few nights.
The closures run overnight from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Tuesday, March 24 through Friday, March 27. Everything is weather-dependent, so there’s always a chance plans could shift.
Here’s a quick look at what to expect:
Southbound State Route 315 at Interstate 70 will be closed overnight for bridge demolition. The ramp to I-70 west will stay open, but everything else will be detoured.
- Northbound SR 315 at I-70 will also be closed overnight, with traffic rerouted through I-71 and I-670.
- The Greenlawn Avenue ramp to Interstate 71 northbound will be shut down overnight.
- The I-71 northbound ramp to I-70 westbound will also be closed during those same hours.
Detours will be posted, but if you can avoid the area altogether during those hours, that’s probably your best bet.
Basically, if your usual route involves 315, 70, or 71 near downtown, give yourself a little extra time or map out a backup plan before you head out.
