Graeter’s Ice Cream is once again scooping up sweetness for a cause.
The Cincinnati-based company has teamed up with The Cure Starts Now for the 18th annual Cones for the Cure campaign, raising money to fund research for childhood brain cancer. The fundraiser runs through Sunday, September 14, so there’s still time to get involved.
At the center of it all is one of Graeter’s most beloved limited-edition flavors: Elena’s Blueberry Pie. Created in honor of Elena Desserich, a young girl whose battle with DIPG inspired her family to launch The Cure Starts Now, the flavor combines juicy blueberries with crunchy pie crust pieces.
This year, Graeter’s is also offering a special milkshake and a PB&J sundae featuring the flavor.
Here’s how you can participate:
- Free cone for a cause: Graeter’s Sweet Rewards members can redeem a free single dip of Elena’s Blueberry Pie, and while they’re at it, make a donation to The Cure Starts Now.
- Donate & save: Donations of $5 or more in-store or through the app earn coupon rewards worth $13.
- Order the Warrior Pack: Available online, this six-pint collection includes Elena’s Blueberry Pie and other favorite flavors of DIPG “Warriors,” with proceeds supporting cancer research.
Each Graeter’s scoop shop will also feature the stories of this year’s Cones for the Cure Ambassadors—children who are battling or have battled brain cancers like DIPG and Medulloblastoma.

Since launching the campaign in 2007, Graeter’s and The Cure Starts Now have raised more than $2 million, funding 17 research projects that have already improved outcomes for kids fighting some of the most difficult cancers.
Elena’s Blueberry Pie is available by the scoop, pint, or nationwide shipping through the end of September. For more details on how to donate or get involved, visit conesforthecure.org.
