Tee Jaye’s in Clintonville is back and better than ever.
Tee Jaye’s has been serving up Barnyard Busters in Clintonville for almost 30 years, but last year, they closed their original location at 4910 N. High Street. After finding a new location, just a few blocks away at 4560 N. High Street, the iconic breakfast spot is back as Tee Jaye’s Kitchen + Spirits.
They officially opened back in March and I’ve been hoping to get up there and check it out ever since. I finally had the chance last week and now I’m kicking myself that this absolute gem has been open for two months already. Think of all the breakfast food I’ve missed out on!
Take everything you thought about what a Tee Jaye’s might look like and throw it right out the window. The new location is modern and bright, all while retaining that country charm that we’ve all grown to expect from Tee Jaye’s.
From the massive outdoor patio to the garage doors that can be opened when the weather is beautiful, the new space feels airy and open.
When it comes to the dining experience, you can expect the same yummy dishes you’ve come to love from Tee Jaye’s over the years, the barnyard buster included. But there were also some surprises lurking on the menu.
With iconic breakfast choices, vegan options, an entire section dedicated to salads and power bowls, an alcohol menu, and even avocado toast, there really is something for everyone.
We tried a couple of different things on the menu, and every single item exceeded our expectations.
The cinnamon roll was doughy and sweet.
The waffles were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside.
And don’t even get me started on the Chicken Biscuit.
Actually, do let me get started. This sandwich surprised me in such an epic way. The large, fluffy biscuit held the battered chicken, caramelized onions, apples, and provolone cheese together.
Once I had the first bite of the maple mustard mayo, I was sold. I didn’t expect such a unique flavor profile from a chicken biscuit, but that’s the last time I’ll ever underestimate Tee Jaye’s.
Our service was fantastic and I genuinely can’t wait to visit again. I think that Tee Jaye’s will probably remain a breakfast mainstay in Clintonville for another 30 years.
Tee Jaye’s Kitchen + Spirits is open Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more info, please visit teejayes.com.
