The end of June in Columbus means one thing: it’s ComFest time. And of course, it’s happening rain or shine.
This year, Community Festival returns to Goodale Park June 27–29, bringing with it a three-day celebration of local music, grassroots activism, cold beer, and community vibes that are uniquely Columbus. Whether you’re a longtime ComFest devotee or a first-timer trying to decode the drum circles and volunteer T-shirts, here’s your guide to making the most of this iconic event.
What is ComFest, anyway?
ComFest (short for Community Festival) has been running since 1972, fueled entirely by volunteers and a commitment to progressive values, arts, and civic engagement. The festival is a celebration of social justice, free expression, and community power.
This year marks ComFest’s 53rd anniversary, and the festival remains as eclectic, energetic, and proudly weird as ever.
The Music. The Movement. The Magic.
Expect more than 200 live performances across seven different stages, including local music, comedy sets, poetry readings, and dance. Friday and Saturday nights bring out the Silent Disco, while the Peace & Healing and Live Arts stages offer something a little more introspective or experimental.
Looking for something new? Check out the workshops, health & wellness demos, and community panels happening throughout the park.
Kid-Friendly (Really)
ComFest is famously all-ages. KiDSART returns with crafts and creative activities for kids under 17, plus a Kids Parade at 3 p.m. on Sunday. It’s a great way for families to enjoy the weekend—just remember: no pets allowed, no matter how chill your dog is.
Good Vibes, Cold Beer
ComFest has partnered with Seventh Son Brewing to bring back their signature Weedeater Draft, available all weekend alongside offerings from Columbus Brewing Co. and non-alcoholic options like Good Liar IPA. Proceeds support ComFest’s Community Grants Program, so every sip helps a cause.
Important: No BYOB allowed, so leave your coolers at home and support the festival by purchasing drinks on-site at the Lincoln, Goodale, or Bozo bars.
Volunteer and Get the Shirt
ComFest doesn’t run without its volunteers. Whether you’re pouring beers, helping with set-up, or assisting at the info booth, you’ll get chips for food and drink, and yes—the coveted volunteer T-shirt. It’s one of the best ways to meet people, support the fest, and soak it all in from the inside.
