A new restaurant will be opening next week at Budd Dairy Food Hall.
Zaytoon Mediterranean Grill will be taking over the Hatch rotating kitchen at Budd Dairy starting September 21. Zaytoon, which means olive in Arabic, will offer made-from-scratch Middle Eastern food. The menu will include saffron-seasoned basmati rice and house-seasoned spit-roasted meats, like lamb, beef gyros, and chicken shawarma.
The spices used in the dishes at Zaytoon are imported to create authentic Palestinian flavors. They’ve also got homemade hummus and falafel on the menu.
The owner of Zaytoon Mediterranean Grill, Mo Jallaq, was born in Hebron City, Palestine. He worked at his uncle’s restaurant at the North Market in the late 1990s and he has wanted to own his own restaurant ever since. In June 2020, the first Zaytoon Mediterranean Grill opened in Hilliard.
