This Beloved Clintonville Eatery Is Closing After Two Decades

We’ve had to say goodbye to far too many beloved local restaurants this year.

On Tuesday evening, The Wildflower Cafe announced that they will be closing for good on September 26. Located in Clintonville, the cafe first opened back in 1999 and has been a popular gathering spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner ever since.

“It has been an impossibly difficult decision to make. Even with the incredible support of the community, the last few years have been deeply challenging not only financially and logistically, but also emotionally. We are simply exhausted,” The Wildflower Cafe shared in a statement on Instagram.

The cafe closed temporarily last spring and reopened in June 2020 for carryout service only. They had only recently opened for dine-in services in July 2021.

“For us the Wildflower has always been an incredibly special, beautiful, and wonderfully strange place,” reads the Instagram post. “We have come to know and love so many of you as friends and family. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. You made the Wildflower so much more than a restaurant. We will miss you all dearly.”

The Wildflower Cafe will remain open through September 26. For more info about the restaurant, you can visit
