Have you ever wondered what prehistoric Ohio was like?

The Ohio History Center will be hosting a weekend full of natural history programming on February 5 and 6. In addition to interesting and informational booths throughout the history center, there will also be special programming throughout the weekend.

On Saturday, visitors can pop into the auditorium for COSI’s Wild Experience. COSI will be bringing animals from their Living Exhibit for attendees to meet. Following that experience, there will be a special film screening of America’s National Parks at 100.

The film will take viewers on a tour through iconic Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon, as well as showcase smaller hidden treasures throughout the country while exploring the National Parks evolution over the last century.

On Sunday, the main event will be a conversation with Ohio Geological Survey geologist Tyler Norris about the giant animals that used to live in Ohio’s prehistoric landscapes. When I say giant, it’s not an exaggeration. Guests will learn about bugs that were the size of dogs, fish the size of cars, and even beavers the size of bears.

On both days, there will be an opportunity for guests to experience a tour of the exhibit, A Short Walk Through the Ice Age. In the Natural History Gallery, you’ll learn about all sorts of animals that used to roam Ohio and get the chance to see real fossils up close.

Everyone visiting the Ohio History Center is required to wear a mask indoors. The Wild Ohio Weekend is included in your admission to the Ohio History Center. Tickets are $13 for adults, $7 for kids 4-12, and free for little ones 3 and under.
