WiFi At Ohio Stadium And Schottenstein Center May Actually Be Happening

Ok, we have heard this story before, but wifi at Ohio State football and basketball games looks close. From Eleven Warriors:

“It looks like WiFi will finally be coming to Ohio Stadium and the Schottenstein Center for the 2019-20 athletic season.

On Friday morning, the Ohio State Board of Trustees will vote on a plan that will bring wireless access points to both Ohio Stadium and the Schottenstein Center in an effort to “improve the fan experience.”

Ohio State was meant to have a deal with Verizon to get this taken care of all the way back in 2012, but the two parties had disagreements on exactly what Verizon was promising, which lead to Ohio State suing Verizon in a case that went all the way to federal court.

Ohio State trustees decided last fall to pursue a campus wide wifi solution, which is the plan that will be voted on Friday.

We’ve seen curveballs in this discussion before, but lord willing and the creek don’t rise, everyone will be able to enjoy sweet, sweet wifi during Buckeyes games very soon.

(And to the old schoolers who cringe at people using their phones at sporting events: guys. There’s something like 10 minutes of live action in a three and a half hour college football game. We’ll get through this together and it’ll be ok.)
