Gallery Hop Isn’t Cancelled, It’s Just Hopping Over To Instagram

Gallery Hop is one of my favorite activities in this city.

I’ve been going to Gallery Hop for almost half of my life. It’s a great way to explore the Short North, check out local businesses, and have a fun time with friends. This month, due to the stay-at-home order, Gallery Hop will be held virtually.

The whole shebang will go down on Instagram (@ShortNorthArtsDistrict) on Saturday, April 4th. Virtual Gallery Hop participants will include Short North Arts District galleries, local retailers, as well as special performances from some of Gallery Hop’s favorite performers.

This new version of Gallery Hop will embody the spirit of the traditional event, all while keeping each other safe and sound at home. There will be art pieces and exhibitions from various galleries, the first looks at spring styles from local retailers, and plenty of ways to make online purchases.

Performers at this new, unique, Virtual Gallery Hop will include KaTanya Ingram, Scottie G, Terrance Charles, and more. Viewers can also stream the Stay Away From Each Other Get Together Car “Parade”, put on by the Short North Civic Association and Mz. Doo Dah, which will make its way through the District starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

“The majority of Ohioans will be confined to their homes during what would have been the April Gallery Hop, but the need to experience art, embrace community, and support local businesses is crucial now more than ever,” said Betsy Pandora, Executive Director of the Short North Alliance. “A Virtual Gallery Hop will allow viewers to do just that, but safely from the comfort of their own homes.”

Virtual Gallery Hop participants include local galleries Brandt-Roberts Galleries, Hammond Harkins Galleries, Lindsay Gallery, Marcia Evans Gallery, (Not) Sheep Gallery, Sarah Gormley Gallery, Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio, Sharon Weiss Gallery, Found at Sharon Weiss Gallery, 24 Lincoln Street Studios, Sherrie Gallerie, and Studios on High Gallery. Retailer participants include Clover On High, Glean, Global Gifts, Happy Go Lucky, Jolie Occasions, Magnolia Thunderpussy, Prologue Bookshop, Red Giraffe Designs, Rowe Boutique, Small Talk, Sole Classics, Tigertree, Vamp, with more to join.
