6 Unique Tacos In Town When You’re Looking To Spice It Up

If you know me at all then you probably already know that I’m obsessed with tacos.

I blame my taco-devouring father for getting me hooked. But if my taco obsession has lead to anything good it’s the fact that I’ve searched far and wide for tacos around this town.

But sometimes we want to try something new, so here are a few unique options for tacos. Something new, but still tacos. Just how I like it.

Local Cantina

$2 taco Tuesday. Oh yeah. Start with the complimentary serve-yourself chips and salsa. Then you can try any of their delicious appetizers. I’m a chips and queso type of girl but if you’re feeling adventurous you should go for the deep fried avocado. Local Cantina now has nine locations are town including Clintonville, Short North, and Grandview.

Their menu consists of many epic taco choices including a weekly featured flavor, but you just have to try the Hong Kong Phooey. You can’t get this delicacy just anywhere. The flour tortilla is topped with teriyaki chicken, charred pineapple salsa, sesame seeds, avocado, and sriracha.

Katalina’s

Everything at this place is actually amazing. Nestled into Victorian Village with super cute outdoor seating, Katalina’s is the ultimate summer brunch spot. Their breakfast and lunch dishes range from classic avocado toast to rich Nutella-filled pancake balls. This old gas station building has become quite the hotspot in town.

The award-winning breakfast tacos served with elote Mexican corn are an absolute must-try. Three tacos with chorizo made in house, scrambled eggs, tomatillo, avocado, queso fresco, Snowville crema & pico de gallo. To make it vegetarian, sub in veggie sausage!

Yabo’s

Think sports bar vibe but where the food is actually delicious and the game comes second. You have to get mosquito bites to start. This is the only time you’ll ever hear me say that. They’re mini fried burritos. I know, genius. Yabo’s has the classics like steak fajita tacos and Baja tacos, but that’s not what got this place on the list.

Hopefully, you’re feeling adventurous because this place has some seriously awesome items you have to try. They’ve managed to combine two of my favorite comfort foods into one- The Don Yabo Italian sub taco. A grilled Italian sub in a tortilla with ham, pepperoni, cheese, banana peppers, lettuce tomato, and Italian dressing.

Bakersfield

Bakersfield is definitely one of my favorite taco places in town. Their atmosphere is super great and even better, their queso is the bomb. I might be drooling just thinking about it people. Queso love is serious. I think I’ve tried just about all of their tacos and I haven’t found a single one I don’t like. Their fish tacos might be my favorite.

When you’re looking to switch things up from your average taco, they have a delicious short rib taco. Braised short rib, queso fresco, crema, white onion, radish, cilantro.

Locations: 733 N High St. Columbus, OH 43215

Condado

via Facebook

Condado is no secret anymore and after what some may say is an excessive amount of visits, I still love it just as much as the first time. With build-your-own style tacos there are endless options for unique creations. Condado is the first place I suggest when we have guests in town. I’m partial to their sweet-lucy taco shell and pineapple salsa.

If you aren’t feeling the creative taco energy on your own they have a few taco suggestions. The surf n’ turf taco is always a good bet if you like spicy. It’s an epic mix of queso fresco, rice, ghost pepper steak, shrimp ceviche, lettuce, onions, roja salsa, and dirty sauce on a flour tortilla.

Los Guachos Taqueria

via Facebook

Los Guachos started as a simple taco truck but their success grew into three restaurants around town. I love their tostadas but they’re second to the real prize winner, the tacos al pastor. To get even better, these tacos are buy one get one free on Mondays.

This place is known for their tacos al pastor, and for good reason. The pork is always tender and perfectly flavored. The pineapple salsa topping is really not to be missed.

I am not responsible for any accidents caused by rushing to these tacos… but please pick me up on your way.
