Thank Your COTA Driver On Transit Driver Appreciation Day

If you’ve ever ridden the COTA bus, you know that transit drivers don’t always have the easiest job. A great driver can set the tone for your whole day, making sure you arrive perfectly on time after your morning commute.

“Transit Driver Appreciation Day was conceived in 2009 by transit riders in Seattle as a way to honor the many hard-working men and women who keep us all moving every day,” COTA explained in a press release. “For hours on end, they manage to keep a schedule, check fares, give directions, announce stops, remember stop requests and more, all while safely maneuvering an extra-large vehicle through unpredictable traffic, adverse weather conditions and some really tight spaces.”

So whether you use COTA as your daily transportation or you take advantage of free fares to check out events downtown, be sure to offer a smile and a thank you to your driver this Friday. If you’d like to go a step further, you can even print out cards here.

Although Transit Driver Appreciation Day is technically March 18, it will be celebrated on Friday, March 17 in order to give weekday commuters the opportunity to participate.
