Get ready blues fans, because blues legends Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’ will bring their star power to the Columbus area next month.
They will perform at the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts at 8 p.m. on September 8. Tickets range from $36-$66 and can be purchased at the CAPA Ticket Center and Ticketmaster.
The pair put out a collaborative album, “TajMo,” earlier this year. Both men have had illustrious careers of their own, with multiple Grammy awards and nominations to their names. “TajMo” has 11 songs, which include both covers and originals.
The record took two and a half years to make, and the two would get together to work on it between tours, Keb’ Mo’ said in a press release.
“Making this record was a really big deal for me,” Keb’ Mo’ said in a press release. “I learned a lot working with him.”
Taj Mahal came into prominence in the 1960s, and Keb’ Mo’ came onto the blues scene in the 1990s.
“I got to see quite a few sides of him, and I was really impressed,” Taj Mahal said of Keb’ Mo’ in a press release. “He’s a hell of a guitar player, and I’m just amazed at some of the stuff that he put out there.”
