A 1,280-Square-Foot Collaborative Mural Wall Is Being Created In The Short North

This summer, a new live mural-making experience is taking place in the Short North Arts District called Summer Spray.

Over the course of the 10-week event, a 1,280 square foot mural will is being beautifully created by 11 local artists. The artists work each weekend through September 13 and the mural is located outdoors on W. Goodale St. between High St. and Park St.

This collaborative mural-making event will show off the live creation of the mural, with the in-the-moment creations being inspired by the artists’ experiences, surroundings, current conversations, and the participating artists who have worked on the mural prior.

The Summer Spray artists were selected through a public application process and include: Jen Kiko and Eric Rausch; Thom Glick; Aaron Whisner; Hakim Callwood; Bee1ne; Chris Cropper; Lee Van Mora; Katie Golonka; Mrrobotgeek; and Felicia (FDZ) Dunson. You can learn more about each of the artists by visiting shortnorth.org/summer-spray.

Of course, we’re all invited to watch the live mural creation throughout the summer, but spectators should practice social distancing and take the appropriate COVID-19 safety precautions. You can read more about the Short North’s COVID-19 guidelines here.

Summer Spray is a project of the Short North Alliance and is made possible with support from the Greater Columbus Arts Council, the Ohio Arts Council, and the Short North Alliance Art Fund.

You can check out the progress on the murals below. We’ll keep it updated throughout the summer as well!
