The iconic South Drive-In will open this weekend, after a late start to the season due to COVID-19.
The South Drive-In has been open to moviegoers in Columbus since 1950, and although they were temporarily closed due to the coronavirus outbreak, they have since been allowed to reopen, with additional safety precautions in place.
The drive-in opens today, May 15 for weekend showings only. The drive-in capacity has been reduced, allowing cars to park further away from each other. There will also be increased space in concession and bathroom lines as well as frequent cleaning.

Guests must wear a mask when interacting with staff or other guests at the gate, at the concession stand, and in the restrooms. Online ticketing and food ordering will be available eventually, although perhaps not in time for opening weekend.
Tickets are $9.50/adult on Friday and Saturday and $7/adult on Sunday. It’s always $2 per child (age 5-11) and kiddos 4 and under are always free. Usually, the drive-in shows first-run movies. But due to COVID-19, many film releases have been delayed, so older movies will also be on the big screen this season. Opening weekend films include Onward, The Call of the Wild, The Vast of Night, and Super 8.
